Aita Ambos

Artist is based in: Estonia

Aita Ambos is a visual artist based in Tartu, whose work focuses on painting and questions of observation and spatial perception. Personal and spiritual landscapes – her hometown of Tartu, the Pallas Art School, Japan, and movement and journey as a state – play an important role in her works.

Ambos depicts places from different perspectives: sometimes from a distance and high up, as if flying, sometimes fragmented and blurred through a window surface. In her paintings, the view is not just a spatial category, but an experiential state that combines movement, memory and immediacy.

Aita Ambos has started painting about 30 years ago and has participated in exhibitions since 1998. She will study at the Pallas University of Art in the leather design department from 2022–2026. She considers Aime Asi and Heldur Viire from the Konrad Mägi Atelje, of which she is a member, to be important influences and mentors.
