The works center on children and women. The figures in the paintings look directly at the viewer or on purpose look past the viewer, avoiding eye contact, as if they already knew what is expected of them. The artist is, in particular, interested in the inner world of the figures in her works.
Some of the portraits are based on old black and white photographs that the artist found. The forgotten people in the photographs are in a way ghosts from the past who get new lives through the paintings.
