Emilia Waszak is a Polish painter and graphic artist, and a graduate of the Faculty of Fine Arts at Nicolaus Copernicus University in Toruń, where she specialized in lithography. She is a two-time recipient of the Minister of Science and Higher Education Scholarship for outstanding artistic achievements and a three-time recipient of the Rector’s Scholarship. Waszak has been recognized with numerous awards, including first place in the competition for a wall composition at the Oncological Hospital in Bydgoszcz (2013) and an Honorable Mention in the National Competition Inspirations (2018).
Her artistic practice spans painting and printmaking, often blending both mediums into poetic, symbolic narratives. Drawing inspiration from Polish legends, fairy tales, and the poetry of Bolesław Leśmian, Waszak creates dreamlike, spiritual worlds populated by recurring motifs—fish, cats, dogs, birds, women, puppets, water, and the moon. These cycles, particularly those centered on female figures, explore the magical and metaphysical dimensions of reality, offering viewers a sense of enchantment and wonder.
She actively participates in exhibitions, competitions, and international symposia in Poland and abroad, developing a body of work that combines technical mastery with a deeply imaginative, fairy-tale sensibility.
