Oil color on canvas The pose’s casual, slightly defiant energy reflects a teenager’s self-awareness, an attitude that says, “I don’t care, but I care immensely.” The finger poking out of the pocket is a consciously playful gesture, hinting at a core aspect of youth: the search for identity through rebellion and play. The background socket begins to speak, is it a metaphor for the teenage lifestyle? Constant energy, the need to be charged, connected, in motion? Or is it a subtle nod to the paradox of freedom: the invisible ties that both empower and restrain? It captures a moment just before something begins, before rehearsal, before the concert, before an escape to somewhere loud, wild, and alive. It’s the electric restlessness you feel right before the first guitar chord, or just as the lights drop and the bass hits in your chest. It’s youth: raw, honest, and impossible to force into any formula. This work was exhibited at the Estonian Academy of Arts graduation show “Tase”.
