Digital print on sticker paper
This year, the graduation show coincided with Pride Month. Ahead of it, there was a suggestion for Vilnius Academy of Arts to show support for queer students by changing the Academy’s logo to a rainbow version and acknowledging Pride in the monthly newsletter. The administration declined, saying something along the lines of “we can’t really do anything.” Instead of remaining silent, I teamed up with other students to take action. We created and distributed rainbow-themed stickers across the Academy as a small but meaningful form of visibility and solidarity for queer students, teachers, and staff. This grassroots action, though modest, was a political statement—an act of resistance and care within our institutional context. This political gesture became part of my final MA graduation project: it was featured on the poster and invitation to my solo exhibition. The works presented in the show were developed over the two years of my master’s studies and reflect the themes of visibility, resistance, and queer identity. The phrase “tavo meninink” (meaning “your artist” in Lithuanian) is also used in my project. It is intentionally written in gender-neutral language(taken from A.Jokšė), reflecting the importance of inclusive language and identity in both my work and values.
