Reflections is a layered memory, painted slowly and transformed through time. Each layer of acrylic and oil carries traces of sorrow, folded gently into pigment until they soften into calm. The work grew from a single memory, a moment suspended on a lake during the stillness of an Estonian summer. I was alone in a boat, far from the shore. No one could reach me. No one could interrupt my silence or my presence. I was untouchable. On land, even when surrounded by people, I often felt lonely. In the middle of the lake, isolated and exposed, I felt safe for the first time in a long while. I carried a deep fear of water. Of its depth, of what remains unseen beneath the surface, of what only reveals itself once you are already within it. Yet there, floating on something I feared, I experienced joy, beauty, and complete presence. The yellow water lilies drifting above the dark water became more than flowers. They were evidence that solitude can be gentle, and that the absence of others is not necessarily loneliness, but relief. This painting holds the echo of that stillness. It is about being finally, consciously alone, and finding happiness there.
