Partition (iteration I, public agencies), 2025

300 x 560 x 200 cm

Laser cut and painted mdf, wood beams

Partition is a modular work composed of laser-cut MDF panels, held together by a wooden framework. The cut-out patterns are derived from repetitions of government agency logotypes, which at once signal authority and dissolve into a tangle of forms. The work moves between structure and dissolution, clarity and confusion. In developing Partition, I have been reflecting on the role of visual design in communicating power. The logotypes operate as symbols of institutional control, yet lose their authority as they break down into abstract, decorative patterns. The first iteration of the work was shown in my solo exhibition To Cut a Long Story Short at Konstfack in February 2025, where it took the form of three monumental partition walls that guided movement into the gallery space and confronted viewers as both obstacle and passage. A second iteration was presented at Konstfack’s Spring Exhibition at Platform Stockholm in May 2025, reconfigured into smaller, movable screen walls.
