IAs the environment became increasingly automated, it began to feel as though progress was accelerating ahead—leaving the human behind. Gradually, and almost imperceptibly, the individual is relegated to the background, where, having forgotten the multiplication table and login codes, they drift—reaching out with one hand for the fruits of a hedonistic life. In this reality of effortless access and digital substitution, one cannot help but wonder: while everything around us is expanding—capabilities, networks, systems—might our own space for meaningful experience, for autonomous thought, for presence, be narrowing? And if so, is this narrowing a quiet retreat, or perhaps a form of resistance?
