I've seen it somewhere, but where...?, 2025
Colour stone lithography prints and an artist’s book, created using lithographic prints and moving image illustrations
“I’ve seen it somewhere, but where…?” is a look at the topic of how differently people see the world around them and what factors influence that vision. The world where the image seen by each person is uniquely perceived and differs from the vision and perception of another’s. In the creative project, I use the technique of stone lithography. I bind multi-layered coloured lithographic prints and put them into an author’s book. I combine each lithographic composition with moving video illustrations in the book’s spreads. I created the moving video illustrations inspired by children’s drawings, which are usually collected in families as visual diaries. I analysed these drawings in search of objects that are familiar to my visual perception of the world and which are dear to me as childhood memories. During the creative process, I reconsidered how strongly my memories of home and childhood in Ukraine affect me even today. The perception of the world is like a puzzle, in which each individual detail plays its role in creating the whole. The puzzle I create consists of images of mountains, rivers, fields and forests, and this whole puzzle is still growing and filling in. Through these creative processes, I talk about myself, communicate with others, and analyse the surrounding environment. The project was presented as my BA final work during the Graduation Show exhibition in Vilnius Academy of Arts 2025.
