Oil on Linen

I have tried to listen to silence. Sometimes silence comes across by chance; during winter frost by a field, in between a lightningbolt and a thunderclap, or in the deep shadows of baroque paintings. I don’t know how to describe silence in words. Silence keeps taking its shape in liminality; in both its spatial and psychological forms. In places lost and bypassing. It is in between of celestial and sad, luminous and dark. In the question when it is silence and when being silenced. The occurrences on no one’s land, things not happening, things unreachable. Lost identity finding its form and a try out to be present now. In my body of work I strived to create room for visual silence inside the Gallery space. With installation choices I created a zone that invites the viewer deeper into the space of the paintings. Colors darken towards the corner, and the void in the paintings becomes more reachable, a space to almost step into. I think of painting as an extension of the body. Paintings themselves are shadows cast of the feelings, observations and thoughts experienced during the act of painting. Researching tenderness and elegiac travel alongside my artistic work. I have painted the series of four large scale paintings mainly with dark tinted oil paints on linen canvas.
