embodiment - -> de-zombification, 2025
100 x 100 cm
silicone-cast 3D models and a robot car
The theme of this work is zombie, zombification, and de-zombification. Body parts in this installation are typical targets for zombies: neck, arms, shoulders, hands, legs, and the lower side of the stomach. These parts are de-zombified by the embodiment of biological data. Concretely, when gallery visitors touch sensors attached to the zombie’s hand, the sensors detect the resistance in sweat on the skin surface. The value is sent to motors attached to some body parts hung from the ceiling as signals to cause their movements. In this medical image-inspired installation, de-zombification is a metaphor of treatment.
