Oil on canvase
“The word “love” was never said in my family, which characterizes the post-Soviet era, where emotional intimacy was often expressed in actions, not words. Parents avoid talking about the past and experiences, even do not remember much of it or choose not to tell me.” The painting “Bathing” is one of seven additional painting sieries called “Parallels of Memory”. It is an exposition of the artist’s childhood experiences in relationships with her parents. A reflection of the multi-layered reality that is carried over time as a symbol of the care of a fellow human being and the silent struggles of life. The paintings are permeated by sentimentality, introspection and insights gained by looking back on these childhood experiences.
