The body of work (are you ready, boots?) start walking consists of photographs and an asphalt installation inside the gallery space. Instead of examining asphalt as a material, the work explores asphalt as a space, while also investigating the artefactual nature of the material. In the work, the mundane everyday material is elevated from its functional level, which permits a broader examination of its spatial meaning. Interactive situations, social expectations, and ways of acting form a chain of events that unfold in the work’s core. Action that transforms into dramaturgy converts the material into a scene on which we give our daily performances. The work is part of the BFA exhibition 2024 of Academy of Fine Arts, Helsinki
