Blackbox, Led light, Photographic paper
Recording from Blackbox on November 10, 2024. The daily development of the photographs during FLASH 4 – New Darkness was conducted by: Kaisa Luukkonen, Johanna Lonka, Veera Jokitalo and Karoliina Mäkelä. (The Blackbox contains a small pen plotter working with a computer, Arduino and three motors for the X, Y and Z axes. The plotter draws with an LED light on photosensitive paper. The work collects environmental data from the exhibition space. It measures visitors’ distance to the box, the amount of light cast upon it, and captures audio levels within the space. This data is translated into visual recordings inside the box, with the plotter drawing on photosensitive paper in darkness. The photographs are developed daily, revealing past interactions around the Blackbox.)
