NOBA Nordic Baltic contemporary art platform

From December 13 to January 4, the Assembly Hall of the Art Academy of Latvia will host the annual student art fair–exhibition “JAUNmarka”, taking place for the 23rd time this year. The 2025 theme — “Powerhouse of Art”— celebrates the empowering energy of art that inspires, connects, and strengthens.

Each year, “JAUNmarka” brings together more than 300 participants from all departments of the Art Academy of Latvia. The exhibition showcases works by promising first-year students as well as doctoral candidates with distinctive artistic voices and experience. Over the course of three weeks, the exhibition’s display changes daily, featuring around 9,000 artworks in total.

Thanks to its scale and diversity, “JAUNmarka” is recognized as the largest student art fair–exhibition in the Baltics. It offers young artists an invaluable opportunity to introduce their work to a wider audience, while giving art lovers a chance to discover and acquire works by the future classics of Latvian art.

The theme “Powerhouse of Art” invites visitors to reflect on the many functions of art — its ability not only to provide aesthetic pleasure, but also to reveal new emotions, address values and social issues, and inspire strength both individually and collectively.
