Straight and in a Circle, 2024

10 x 10 cm

Frame-by-frame animation, digital drawing

The animation “Straight and in a Circle” is a part of my Master’s project at Vilnius Academy of Art titled “Forced Migration. The Way Home,” inspired by my personal experience of forced migration from Belarus to Lithuania. Using simple shapes and symbols the animation illustrates the universal struggle of individuals compelled to leave their homeland in pursuit of safety. It demonstrates how small acts of kindness and understanding can help heal the wounds of displacement, overcome isolation, and cultivate a sense of belonging in a new environment. Furthermore, the animation highlights the transformative impact of immigration on both forced migrants and their new communities. The sound design for the animation was crafted by sound designer and composer Laurynas Kamarauskas. The sound emphasizes a feeling of anxiety and loneliness common to all migrants, the delicate nature of forming new connections, and the gradual transition from isolation to acceptance. Resolution: 1920×1080 Duration: 04:24 10 frames per second
