The artist once went fishing in Paatsalu Bay, where Oossäär is located—a pebble islet about 2–5 metres wide and roughly a couple of kilometres long. No plants grow there, and the islet slowly shifts its position over time.
The painting depicts the shoreward end of Oossäär, rendered from memory. A man wearing a hat stands there.
