The installation Model Apples belongs to Norman’s projects that engage with Baltic colonial history. The work addresses fantasies of fertility.

   Slide projection onto plaster moulds of apples and wax models of apple varieties. The image uses an archival photograph showing the Baltic noblewoman Leopoldina von Glehn posing in wedding attire as an Estonian peasant girl (1870s).

   A visual study for Norman’s public sculpture Rebel Apple (2024). The documentary prototype for the sculpture was a small, stunted fruit of a feral apple variety.
