Sand stone
Lucretia is a CNC-milled sandstone sculpture based on a 3D model. It merges a scan of a human figure with digitally simulated drapery covering it completely. It draws from the long tradition of marble sculptures in art history, where fabric was masterfully rendered in stone. The work is also in conversation with antique and renaissance sculptures through shared themes of body, sacred and intimacy. Lucretia is in search of a contemporary depiction of the martyr previously painted and sculpted countless times in the history of art.
