Although we live in an independent, free Lithuania, we must ask: are we truly free if part of the population cannot live with dignity and equality, if basic rights and protections do not apply simply because someone loves a person of the same sex? More than 34 years have passed since the restoration of independence — but have we truly achieved freedom?
