Porcelain, wood, authors technique Artwork “Heritage” explores a shift in the author’s identity and sense of belonging. At the heart of the installation is a Latgale ceramic milk jug. This iconic symbol of Latvian culture encapsulates a multifaceted array of both personal and universal symbols. By delving into the author’s relationship with family and belonging amidst Latvia’s diverse and evolving society, the recognizable cultural object is visually, conceptually, and technologically adapted to align with the contemporary context of Latvian society. Through an examination of the interplay between tradition preservation and progress, the author explores the significance of Latvian identity in today’s world.
