Volungė Aušra Griškonytė (b. 1976) is a Lithuanian photographer whose work often explores themes of identity, queerness, gender roles, and societal norms. Her journey in photography began in 1993, when she joined a photography club led by Alvydas Vaitkevičius. She graduated from the Vilnius Higher School of Technology (1997–2000) as a Photographer-Technologist and later earned a BA (2009) and an MA (2025) in Photography and Media Art from the Vilnius Academy of Arts.

Griškonytė’s first solo exhibition, Kekšės (2000), focusing on drag queens, was presented at Užupis Art Incubator, Vilnius, and evolved into Kekšės II (2002) in Kaunas—a subject that remains a recurring motif in her work. Other solo exhibitions include With the Corner of the Eye (2003), Anas – ana (2017), STiklo siena (2023), and Rožins (2025). She has also curated thematic exhibitions marking World AIDS Day (2001) and frequently addresses marginalized narratives through her photography.

Her work has been featured in notable group exhibitions, including Family (2011, Tallinn), The Human in Lithuanian Photography (2012), From Dusk Till Dawn: 20 Years of LGBT Freedom in Lithuania (2013), Faces of Diversity (2018), Festival of Changes (2021, MO Museum), Survival (2022, Lukiškės Prison), The Struggle Continues (2023, Oslo), Invisible Walls (2023), and We Don’t Do This. Intimacy, Norms and Fantasies in Baltic Art (2024, MO Museum).

Griškonytė’s works are held in the MO Museum and other cultural collections. She has been a member of the Lithuanian Interdisciplinary Artists’ Association since 2012, the Lithuanian Photographers’ Association since 2023, and the Lithuanian Artists’ Union since 2025.
