Vilen Künnapu (born 1948) is an architect and architecture critic, who discovered painting only recently, opening his first painting exhibition in 2013. He has held a firm position one among the most important Estonian architects throughout the last three decades, being among the country´s first postmodernist theoreticians and architects in the 1970s. In terms of painting, Vilen Künnapu has outlined that his son, artist August Künnapu, was the person to give him the “push“ to turn to this field himself by giving him the first canvases as a present.
