Valev Sein
Artist is based in: Estonia
Valev Sein (1964) creates works ranging from miniatures to monumental pieces.
He experiments playfully with materials, incorporating glass, wood, textiles,
mirror fragments, and other elements into conventional painting media to pro-
duce assemblages that resonate with surrealism. He has also created stained-
glass works as commissioned projects for private homes as well as churches.
Sein graduated from the Estonian State Art Institute with a degree in painting
and monumental art (1990) and has participated in numerous exhibitions in
Estonia and internationally. He was also one of the driving forces behind the
Nelja Nurga Gallery on the island of Hiiumaa, which was active for many years.
Sein is a member of the Estonian Painters’ Association and the Estonian Artists’
Association.
