Urtė Lagunavičiūtė Emerging artist

Urtė Lagunavičiūtė

Artist is based in: Lithuania

Urta Lagunavičiūtė (b. 1999) is a Lithuanian artist whose practice centers on the exploration of glass and light. Challenging the traditional canons of stained glass, she develops new technological approaches and situates the medium within contemporary contexts. She earned her BA in Fine Arts (Stained Glass) from the Vilnius Academy of Arts in 2022 and is currently pursuing a Master’s degree in Site-Specific Art there.

Lagunavičiūtė’s work has been presented in solo and group exhibitions in Lithuania and abroad. Notable solo projects include Dedicated to Blue (2023, VAA gallery “Akademija”), Dedicated to Light (2024, Lithuanian National Martynas Mažvydas Library, Palanga Reading Room), and Baseinas (2025, Jonas Mekas Visual Arts Center). Her practice has been supported by the Elena Urbaitytė Named Scholarship (2023) and the Lithuanian Council for Culture’s Young Artist Scholarship (2024). Internationally, she was nominated for the Stanislav Libenský Award (2023) and exhibited at the Royal Castle in Prague, and she completed a stained glass internship at LP ATELIER DE VITRAIL in Millau, France.

Her installations reflect on boundaries—both physical and conceptual—while positioning glass and light as rare, yet vital, artistic media within the wider field of contemporary art.
