Urmas Muru

Urmas Muru (born August 27, 1961, in Pärnu) is an Estonian architect and artist.
He graduated from Lydia Koidula Pärnu Secondary School No. 2 in 1979 and earned his degree in architecture from the State Art Institute of the Estonian SSR in 1984.
From 1984 to 1985, Muru worked at the Tallinn branch of the Tsentrosojuzproject design institute, and from 1986 to 1990, he worked at the state design institute Eesti Tööstusprojekt. Later, he continued as a freelance architect and worked at the architecture firm Muru&Pere.
Muru’s most notable projects include Pääsküla Library, Haabersti Leisure Center, social housing in Lasnamäe, and the private house “Vaskmaja” in Tabasalu. His architectural work is characterized by innovative use of materials, expressive forms and volumes, as well as versatile color solutions.
His artistic work is marked by expressiveness and individuality. Muru has worked in both painting and performance art, aiming to create strong and distinctive visual experiences in his works.
