Uno Roosvalt

Uno Roosvalt (born 1941 in Tallinn) completed his preliminary art studies at Tartu Art School and continued at Estonian State Art Institute (speciality of painting). He has been participating in exhibitions since 1968. Throughout the last four decades, Roosvalt´s leitmotif has been nature, especially coastal landscapes. It is noteworthy that Roosvalt is one of the few artists dedicated to continuous development of realistic landscape painting throughout several decades. More recently, he has been particularly inspired by Nordic cliffs and mountains and their variegated graphic texture.
Prizes: Uno Roosvalt has received considerable recognition throughout the entire length of his career. He has been awarded, inter alia, the diploma from Moscow Young Artists Exhibition (1972, 1975), USSR Economic Achievement Exhibition, Bronze medal (1984), Pühajärve Prize (1993, 1994), Painters Union Prize (2000), Konrad Mägi Prize (2011), Erik Haamer Prize (2018), Kristjan Raud Prize (2019).
Works in collections: Estonian Art Museum, Tartu Art Museum, Tallinn Art Hall, Lohja city government, numerous private collections.
