Roberts Bāliņš Emerging artist
Artist's country of origin: Latvia
Roberts Bāliņš is a sculptor from Riga, Latvia, specializing in the field of abstract and anthropomorphic sculptures. The works of Roberts provide an insight into the interplay between the world of form and feeling, creating an environment with abstract sculptures where emotions are revealed through the shapes defined by the sculpture. The only source of play is the tubular limbs, which, as they bend and break, represent anthropomorphic shapes. Most of the works use pipes of the same diameter, which turn into tubular forms. It is the same expression technique, which is able to express itself in a completely different way in each sculpture. In the form, the author gives feelings. These are primitive feelings, which, when added together with the expressions of the other limbs, form complex feeling situations.
Roberts Bāliņš graduated from the master's program of the Latvian Academy of Arts in the sculpture department in 2024. Roberts has been participating in Latvian and international exhibitions with sculptural works since 2016. In 2021, he participated in an international exhibition in Japan. Experience in various international projects, such as the cast iron symposium in Slovakia, and the paper workshop in Budapest. In the summer of 2024, Roberts had a solo exhibition "One or Two" which was on display at the Jurmala Museum.
