Rein Kelpman

Rein Kelpman (born 1960 in Tartu) is a freelance artist, a self-taught painter. Kelpman has been
appearing at exhibitions since 1981. He has been a member of The Estonian Artists‘ Association since 1986. He has worked as a guest tutor at The University of Tartu.


His breakthrough works shaped out to be two 1984 oil paintings „A Wagon“ and „Juvenile“.
Kelpmans’ earlier style of depicting reality changed into an abstract approach in the nineties.
In later periods he has created mixed media assemblages using various different materials, also colorful wooden objects and expressive oil pastels.
