Petriina Kiiskinen Emerging artist

Petriina Kiiskinen

Artist's country of origin: Finland

Petriina Kiiskinen (b. 1999) is a Finland-based artist whose practice primarily focuses on sculpture and installation. Her works serve as a platform for examining the boundaries between the human mind and cultural memory. She is particularly interested in the memory embedded in materials, their historical meanings and associated functions.

Kiiskinen’s artistic approach is rooted in the use of diverse materials and rediscovered found objects, exploring the interplay between their inherent characteristics and her own personal intuition. Her works frequently feature contrasts and juxtapositions, reflecting her interest in the tension that arises when the internal logic of materials intersects with the constructs of human culture.

Kiiskinen has held three solo exhibitions and participated in numerous group exhibitions across Finland, including annual exhibitions of the Turku Artists’ Association (2023, 2025). In addition, she has engaged in both temporary and permanent public art projects, working independently and collaboratively in diverse environments in Finland and internationally. She was part of the working groups for the PARTGO (2022) and REVIVE (2024) projects, the latter as a member of the Young Talents team. Her most recent temporary sculpture installation was exhibited at Frozen People Festival 2025, which is part of the Oulu2026 cultural program.

Kiiskinen is currently completing her studies in fine arts at the Turku Arts Academy, graduating in spring 2025. She has also studied at the Royal Academy of Fine Arts Antwerp and the Liminka School of Art.
