Miranda Martinsson Emerging artist

Artist's country of origin: Sweden
Miranda Martinsson is an installation artist whose multidisciplinary practice explores emotional states often left unspoken—loneliness, stillness, and the complexity of inner experience. Moving fluidly between media, her work investigates how absence can become a form of presence, and how digital technologies, including artificial intelligence, can be used to express something profoundly human. Themes such as the loneliness epidemic and the growing emotional entanglement with AI entities are central to her inquiry, along with the nuanced tensions that arise from these connections.
Originally trained as a painter, Martinsson works with an intuitive sensitivity to emotional pacing and spatial atmosphere. Her installations are marked by a cinematic undertone and a visual language shaped by natural textures—water, trees, and flowers often appearing as motifs. She is particularly interested in the intersection between digital tools and emotional expression, and how art can hold silence, distance, and longing without demanding resolution.
Her process frequently begins with a sense of internal urgency—an unnamed emotion—that gradually unfolds into structured experimentation. Through video installation, she creates spaces for slowness, reflection, and connection, not only between the artwork and the viewer, but also with seldom-accessed parts of the self.
Martinsson studied painting at Kyrkeruds Folkhögskola and Göteborgs Konstskola, received her bachelor’s degree in 2022, and completed her master’s degree in 2025 at Umeå Academy of Fine Arts.
