Marta Stratskas

Marta Stratskas

Artist's country of origin: Estonia

Marta Stratskas (b. 1986, Tallinn, Estonia) is an Estonian artist based in Berlin. She graduated from Estonian Academy of Arts with a master’s degree in painting. Marta’s bold and textured paintings combine old baroque and gothic elements set against modern pop motifs, conjuring themes of the sacred, extreme human conditions, and borderline situations. Marta’s work merges the subject and the realization, frequently referencing the sacred, awe, and abyss. Her work is a disciplined exploration of the relationship between color, light, and the artist’s presence/intention in the moment.
