Markus Kasemaa

Markus Kasemaa (born August 28, 1972, in Tallinn) is an Estonian artist known for his innovative and diverse art projects. He studied at the Tartu Art School’s Department of Sculpture from 1990 to 1991 and at the University of Tartu’s Department of Painting from 1991 to 1995.


Kasemaa has participated in numerous exhibitions both in Estonia and internationally, including in Finland, Sweden, Denmark, Belgium, Austria, Germany, the United Kingdom, Italy, Portugal, Russia, Latvia, Lithuania, Georgia, Malaysia, the USA, and the Azores.


His works have also been featured on the cover of the scientific journal Nature.


He is particularly known for his “Figures” series, which explores broad characteristics of individuals and society and their mutual influence. Kasemaa often employs digital techniques and presents his works in various environments, including schools, universities, corporate offices, and public institutions.
