Mariann Kallas

Mariann Kallas (1949) is a textile artist who has worked

with a wide range of materials in weaving, printing, and

fabric painting, while remaining grounded in the tradi-

tion of applied art. She has primarily created tapestries

in both small and large formats. Kallas graduated in tex-

tile art from the Estonian State Art Institute (1982) and

worked as a limited-edition artist at ARS from 1982 to

1992. She is a co-owner of the Lühikese Jala Gallery

and has run her own design studio, Kallas Design,

since 1995. She has participated in numerous exhi-

bitions in Estonia and abroad and is a member of the

Estonian Textile Artists’ Association and the Estonian

Artists’ Association.
