Maret Suurmets Kuura

Maret Suurmets Kuura (b. 1982) is a painter and valued art teacher who lives and works in Tartu. Colors and their interplay are important for an artist. Since childhood, the artist has been actively engaged in drawing and painting and exploring his surroundings on a mime level. The artist graduated from the University of Tartu with a BA in Painting (2004) and an MA in Art Teacher from the University of Tartu (2011). He started participating in exhibitions since 2000. Organized more than 30 personal exhibitions. He has been a member of the Tartu Artists’ Union since 2006 and a member of the Estonian Painters’ Union since 2009. In 2009, he received a scholarship from the Tartu Artists’ Union to be an exchange artist in Tampere, Finland. On his return, in 2010, the exhibition “Made in Takahuhti” was held in the Tartu Art House. The artist’s works belong to the collection of the New Art Museum.
