Maire Aarsalu
Artist is based in: Estonia
Maire Aarsalu is a painter and educator whose practice focuses primarily on landscape and figurative painting, exploring colour as an experiential and perceptual medium. Her work is characterised by attentive observation, a calm rhythm, and a sensitive use of colour, in which the presence of nature and the human figure intertwine.
Aarsalu teaches painting at the Tartu Higher Art School Pallas and the Tartu Art School, and mentors students at the Konrad Mägi Atelier. Alongside her pedagogical work, she is actively engaged in the contemporary art scene, closely connected to the activities of the Konrad Mägi Atelier, and has consistently exhibited in both group and solo exhibitions.
Her works have been presented in various survey and thematic exhibitions and published in the Konrad Mägi Atelier Society’s book Colour and Freedom (2018) and in the Tartu Higher Art School Pallas publication Handwritings (2024).
Maire Aarsalu is a member of the Tartu Artists’ Union.
