For Madara art means telling a story about the ongoing in her surroundings. An essential aspect of her work is observing and analyzing social-political occurrences; however, it is mostly a study of causal relationships and it does not provide solutions to the identified problems. It is an attempt to understand at least on a personal level the realities and the currently ongoing events of today’s world, as well as one’s own stand on the subject.
Madara’s works are composed of different finds transformed into symbolic, pictographic characters. These “finds” can be real-life people and animals met somewhere on the way, unusual events, film motifs, literary works and physical objects. The narrative can be revealed by interpretation of their meanings, correlations and rhythms. In the creative process, the finds can be used directly, for example, in creation of three-dimensional objects, collages and transformation of film excerpts. Or they can be reshaped into painted images. For Madara, painting is a meditative, almost therapeutic process, which could be described as tracing the exact rhythms of the nature’s geometry, shapes, silhouettes and textures.
