Artist's country of origin: Estonia
Maari Soekov is an Estonian visual artist and illustrator whose work brings together dreamlike sensitivity, a nature-oriented worldview, and mythopoetry. She graduated in photography from Tartu Art College (2010–2014) and furthered her studies at Escola Superior Artística do Porto through the Erasmus program (2012–2013).
Since 2015, Maari has been working as a freelance artist, creating illustrations, original paintings, and large-scale murals. Her works have found a place in books, exhibition spaces, private and public collections, as well as on public walls—both in Estonia and abroad.
In addition to gallery and illustration work, she has contributed to the visual design of various cultural and music festivals, decorating stages and surrounding areas. Maari’s artistic practice is also supported by her involvement in grassroots movements—she has lived in an ecovillage, studied permaculture and natural building. She has led creative thinking and art workshops for both children and adults, offering participants the opportunity to explore their creativity and perception of the world through art.
