Leena Kuutma (1974) often develops a hybrid artistic language that combines the spatial experience character- istic of sculpture with the material knowledge inherent in ceramics. In earlier works she has incorporated drawing techniques into ceramics, and she also engages with themes of public space and monumental art. Kuutma graduated in sculpture from the Estonian Academy of Arts in 1996. She has participated in numerous exhibi- tions in Estonia and internationally and, since 1994, in more than fifty workshops, symposia, and competitions, working with materials such as wood, stone, concrete, snow, and ice.
