Aldemar Muñoz is from Bogota, Colombia. He is an artist, graduated in 2013 from The Jorge Tadeo Lozano’s University and from the Master’s degree program in Contemporary Art at the Estonian Academy of Arts in 2021. Throughout his career, the body has been his subject of analysis. He is interested in researching the invisible realities around the body, through understanding how organs, fluids, emotions and feelings respond in daily life in order to recover something of the body beyond the words . With an effervescent curiosity Jose Aldemar explores different media, such as dance, drawing , weaving, embroidery to approach his subject of research. Finally, the result is a series of drawings, objects, videos and performances to attach new outlooks to the sensory experiences around the body which have been exhibited in various galleries such as Sketch, Neebex, and Luis Angel Arango’s Library in Bogota, Colombia. In 2015, he began research on performing arts with Malinche’s Theatrical Laboratory, under the direction of Cuba’s teratologist Leonardo Leyva. Shortly after, he was selected to participate in the II Latin-American meeting of Researchers on The Body and the Revolt. He then participated in the Paper Languages in 2016 exhibition at the gallery; the Museum. In 2018 he participated in a solo exhibition in the galleria Alonso Garces and Norah Jaime Gallery in Cartagena, a solo exhibition in Vent Space, a gallery in Tallinn, Estonia. Selected in 2020 to participate in a performance festival in Helsinki, Finland, and 2021 in the young sculpture award of the Estonia Academy of art organized by the sculpture department.
