Emilija Grigaliūnaitė Emerging artist
Artist's country of origin: Lithuania
In my creative practice, I usually resist organic, accidental forms obtained by classical graphic techniques. I admire their unique materiality, which I then transform into an installation or an artist's book, talking about various topics the size of a raisin or a planet. This year, I graduated from the Vilnius Academy of Arts. During the four years of my studies, I gained a lot of technological knowledge in the field of graphics. I participated in the creative workshops of famous artists such as Timothy Frerichs (USA) and Otis Tamasauskas (USA), and I also got to know the discourse of the contemporary art field, of which I aspire to be a part myself. In 2023, I held my first solo exhibition, "Potato Metaphysics," and also participated in the international artist's book exhibition "Slow Selfie: When Knowledge Becomes Image," held in Granada (EU), Vilnius (LT), and Poznań (PL). I also participated in many group exhibitions during these years. In 2023, I was awarded the Romas Viesulas (USA) nominal scholarship for graphic excellence. And this year, I was awarded the Mikalojus Konstantinas Čiurlionis prize for the implementation of a new creative project.
