Caressa Betist Emerging artist

Artist's country of origin: Finland
Caressa Betist’s artistic practice centers on collaborative performances that explore the theme of togetherness through the medium of song. She is inspired by grand and often romanticized notions of human life — beauty, melancholia, sadness, and happiness. In her work, she seeks to create a sense of catharsis that emerges through song and a shared sense of community. Betist presents her work as live performances as well as multi-channel video installations.
During her studies at UniArts Helsinki, she received thesis supervision from Ragnar Kjartansson and Tellervo Kalleinen in support of the piece “Youth Singing in a Bunker,” the work she is applying with today. This piece was shown at the Kuvan Kevät master graduation show and is currently under nomination to be part of the China Biennale of Art & Technology in 2025 in Hangzhou. It has also been awarded a stipend from the Anita Snellman Foundation.
