Kristina Švenčionytė Emerging artist
Artist's country of origin: Lithuania
I come from a theatrical background. I have finished my acting studies (BA) and I was (and still am) successfully working as an actress. But I wanted to be more autonomous, do some manual work, and create by myself. Also at the time I started to do some performances with famous Lithuanian performance artists, like Benas Šarka and Evaldas Jansas. Also, an interesting fact is that my father and uncle finished VDA sculpture studies, so I was also influenced by stories in my childhood, lots of conversations about fine arts and etc. So I have chosen really valuable and high-quality studies of contemporary sculpture in VDA. And I am very happy about my choice. In my works, I combine my theatrical skills and visual art. With my theatrical projects, I participated in various festivals all over the world: Greece, Germany, Poland, Belarus, France, Spain, and Latvia. With my performances I participated in the Art Vilnius art fair, National Gallery of Denmark, Morka gallery, UMI gallery, Si:said gallery, KKKC in Klaipėda, 5 MALŪNAI, Lukiškių kalėjimas, various international and multicultural projects.
