On Thursday, 30 July at 5 pm the German group exhibition “Intersection. Together for a Second” will be opened in the large gallery at Tartu Art House.
In this exhibition intersect the diverse handwritings of four German artists: Else Gold, Katharina Lewonig, Matthias Lehmann and Tobias Stengel. They have jointly undertaken a risky experiment: a direct collision with another party, another artist that will catapult each participant back to their respective artistic approaches. At the same time, however, this collision with the other is fruitful: it is an intersection where the works of the artists address each other and converge into galaxies through mutual attraction.
The desire of the artists to intersect is the result of the universality and richness of the artistic language due to its power to consolidate various dispositions in the context of a global zeitgeist. Therefore in all the works at the exhibition are present the qualities that influence both the space and the sense of space, including materiality, surface, structure, colour, light and shadow as well as their transformations in time. Through different approaches to these universal qualities, the objective of the artists is to create diverse relationships and convergences that would reveal and interpret the realities of the world.
The exhibition has been made in collaboration with the Kunstverein Meissen and is supported by the Kulturstiftung des Freistaates Sachsen and Dresden Amt für Kultur und Denkmalschutz.
The exhibition will remain open until 23 August.
