Throat's stricture, 2018

Work is exhibited in the Kuvan Kevät 2022 in University of Fine Arts in Helsinki.

The work deals with artist esophagus stenosis, commonly known as throat stricture, that prevents him to swallow in unnoticeable way. There is a scar tissue that blocks food entering smoothly and the natural movement of a throat, which occurs while swallowing is negligible. Artist uses material gathered from the platforms such as Google and Facebook. Eating appears in those images, in a way how eating is represented as a certain kind of activity, neutral, happy and most of all as an event of social gathering. Artist interviewed the students of the school and asked questions that relate to eating as a social activity. Within the work artist is trying to evoke a certain kind of local knowledge that it is subjective. As a response to individuality and it’s discourses.
