The Knife, 2021

40 x 30 cm

Oil on Canvas

I painted the knife while thinking about the potentiality of each person to do horrible things. We all know to well that a good well educated European could do horrendous crimes against humanity. I wanted the painting to be as simple as possible but also to be a horror picture. The truth is that this is my palette knife, I use it to scrape paint. It is not dangerous at all but I’ve always been a bit uneasy while looking at it. This painting was shown in the exhibition “380 B.C.” VAA Exhibition Halls “Titanikas”, Vilnius, 2022
