he exhibition is introduced by a quote from Soren Kierkegaard’s „The Sickness Unto Death“: “At the instant something appears possible, and then a new possibility makes
its appearance, at last this phantasmagoria moves so rapidly that it is as if everything were possible – and this is precisely the last moment, when the individual becomes for himself a mirage.“

Cloe Jancis has graduated from the department of photography at the Estonian Academy of Arts in 2018. Present exhibition is a conceptual continuation of her BA graduation work, a photo series „Metamorphosis“. The artist is intrigued by examining the space between corporeal perception and mental cognition. The bodies depicted in photos seem to be frozen in poses while yearning for each other, that is, for the state of completeness. The momentary illusion about the possibility of being complete will disappear when the bodies become unconnected in order to return to one’s closed self-image. Uncomfortable, in-between, tense and recurring poses have the effect of mental exercises and create the feeling that it is still impossible to become complete through coming together. Incapability to reach the contact is but an endless waiting for eternity.
