Oil on Canvas The Decameron is a series of paintings based on the non-existent movie The Decameron, which is a contemporary screening of Giovani Boccaccio’s book The Decameron. The series consists of 10 images that are stop shots with subtitles from an imaginary movie. The paintings touch on themes such as human nature (original sin), free will, feelings, the choice between the mind and the voice of the heart, the anti-Enlightenment approach to human nature, change and stability, and contrasts in various senses. This series takes a Metamodern approach – naivete, sincerity, grand narrative, etc.
